Terms.

The ground rules for using Dog Ppl, and for partners who list with us.

Who we are

Dog Ppl is run by Laura Bosworth, a sole trader trading as Dog Ppl. When these terms say "we" or "us", that's who they mean. You can reach us at hello@dogppl.uk.

Using Dog Ppl

Dog Ppl is a free directory for dog owners. We help you find independent dog businesses and brands, but you book and pay them directly. Your agreement for any service or product is with that business, not with Dog Ppl.

Partners write their own listings and confirm they hold the licences and insurance they need. We can't check everything, so please do your own checks before you book. For example, home boarders and day care providers in England need a licence from their local council, and you can ask to see it.

Member offers are set by each partner and may change or end. The partner's own terms apply to their offers.

Please don't misuse the site, for example by copying listings in bulk, sending spam through it or trying to break it.

Partner terms

These terms apply if you list your business on Dog Ppl. By paying for a plan, you agree to them.

Plans and prices

  • Standard listing: £12 a month, or £72 a year paid upfront (half the price of 12 monthly payments).
  • Featured listing: £15 a month, or £90 a year paid upfront. Featured listings sit at the top of local results on a highlighted card, with a longer description.
  • Dog Ppl isn't VAT registered, so there's no VAT to add.
  • Payments are taken by Stripe and renew automatically until you cancel. We'll email you a reminder before your plan renews.
  • If we ever change our prices, we'll give you at least 30 days' notice by email, so you can cancel first if you want to.

Switching plans

You can switch between plans any time from your partner dashboard. If you upgrade, you'll pay the difference for the rest of your current billing period. If you move to a cheaper plan, the unused part is credited against your next payment.

Cancelling

  • You can cancel any time from your partner dashboard, with no notice period and no cancellation fee.
  • Your listing stays live until the end of the month or year you've already paid for, then comes off the site.
  • We don't refund part months or part years, except as explained below.

Refunds

  • Changed your mind on an annual plan? If you email us within 14 days of your first annual payment, we'll refund it in full and take your listing down.
  • If we remove your listing and you've done nothing wrong, for example because we stop offering your category or area, we'll refund the months you've paid for but won't get.
  • If we remove your listing because these terms have been broken, there's no refund.

If a payment fails

If a payment doesn't go through, Stripe will email you a link to update your card and will keep trying for up to 14 days. Your listing stays live during that time. If the payment still hasn't gone through after 14 days, your plan ends and your listing comes off the site. You're welcome to join again at any time.

Your listing

  • You're responsible for everything on your listing, including your details, prices, photos and offers. Please keep them accurate and up to date.
  • You confirm you hold the licences, registrations and insurance your business needs, and you'll show proof if we ask.
  • You confirm you have the right to use everything you add, such as your logo and photos. You let us show them on Dog Ppl, and in our own marketing of Dog Ppl and your listing, for as long as you're a partner.
  • You'll treat dogs and their owners well, and follow the law.

Listing content standards

Dog Ppl is a family-friendly place. Your business name, listing and links must not:

  • include swearing or offensive language, including disguised spellings (like f*ck or sh1t);
  • promote anything illegal or harmful, such as unlicensed breeding or selling, breeding or selling banned breeds, banned procedures like ear cropping or cosmetic tail docking, weapons or drugs;
  • include adult, hateful or discriminatory content.

We check listings automatically when they go live, when they change, and regularly after that. Dog owners can also report a listing to us.

If your listing breaks these standards

  • We'll take it off Dog Ppl straight away and email you to explain why.
  • You'll have 7 days to put it right, using the link in our email or by replying to it. Once the change has been checked, your listing goes live again.
  • If it isn't put right within 7 days, or the problem is serious, we'll remove your listing for good and cancel your subscription. As this is a breach of these terms, there's no refund for the current period or for the time your listing was hidden.
  • If you think we've got it wrong, reply to our email and we'll take another look.

Our right to change or remove listings

We can also edit or remove a listing that's misleading, offensive or unlawful, puts dogs at risk, or breaks these terms in any other way. Where we can, we'll tell you first and give you a chance to put it right.

Listing activity

We count calls, website clicks and other taps on your listing, and share the figures with you each month. These figures help you see what your listing is doing, but we can't promise a particular number of calls, clicks or bookings.

Liability

We work hard to keep Dog Ppl running smoothly and accurately, but the site is provided as it is. We can't promise it will always be available or error-free.

  • We're not responsible for services or products provided by partners. Those are a matter between you and the partner.
  • For partners, our total liability to you for anything to do with Dog Ppl is limited to the amount you've paid us in the 12 months before the problem happened.
  • We're not liable for loss of profits, business or bookings, or for any indirect loss.
  • Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law doesn't allow us to limit.
  • If you're a dog owner using the site, your legal rights as a consumer aren't affected.

Play dates and events

If you book a Dog Ppl play date, our play date terms also apply and form part of these terms. In short: your dog must be vaccinated and good with other dogs, you're fully responsible for your dog throughout the event, and tickets are non-refundable.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. If a change affects partners in a meaningful way, we'll email you at least 30 days before it takes effect.

The legal bit

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and any disputes will be dealt with by the courts of England and Wales. If you have a problem, please email hello@dogppl.uk first. Most things can be sorted with a quick chat.

How we handle personal data is explained in our privacy policy.
